Finnish seizure of Russian assets
Finland has become the first country to begin seizing Russian real estate. A ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague has paved the way for the seizure of a large number of Russian properties in Finland, with the proceeds going to Ukraine. The Russians originally seized the Finnish estate from Germany at the end of the Continuation War in 1944. Among the Russian assets is a former hostel where Finnish Ulf Grüssner grew up. He is returning to his childhood home for the first time.
